Patience & teamwork, I presume

People here would never be able to afford 11 kids. They can hardly afford 3 if that

I don’t know! Cuz the food alone is a lot!! And they have nine boys and two girls so you can imagine having to feed that many teenage boys.... their oldest is now 33 and the youngest is 11 so most are grown now.

A lot of people here have large families.. I have another friend who has 11.. and there are 4 other families in my church that have 6 each.. and all the newly married couples are on their way to having a bunch of little blessings as well!

Gosh 11 kids! I struggle with 3, though to be fair I’m doing it alone but still! Honestly my mental health would not survive, id end up in the loony bin.

Looking at all these flock photos I realised I never shared pics of my girls. The plan is to get them home this week, apparently someone is broody again, hopefully the move breaks her because I might have just set another 17 in a new incubator I scored on Facebook..

My first chooks were named after Harry Potter characters, then I got to lily and had no female names left so we’ve moved to flowers
First is Flora, hatched from a blue egg but lays a nice light brown egg, cheeky as anything

Then Rosemary, she’s the only blue egg layer I got from the hatch threw more to the auracana side (her grandmother)
Can’t find a photo of Ivy but she looks like Flora just with no colour, I sadly lost their sister Zinnia in November to the heat.

Life Update:
Just got home from a long busy day.
Grabbed a nice cold beer and skulled it down. I had a massive headache always helps lol.

The house was at 34 degrees inside!
So decided id sit outside with my ladies and let them free range for awhile before bed.

Coco is my Rhode Island Red Pullet that is starting to get redder and redder.

I just went to pick up the water feeder next to her and she started to squat so should be getting eggs any day now.

Yes she was broody in that photo. When I throw her out of the nest she literally flops, most hens will flap but she won’t have any of it. She’s so pretty, I’d love to find a rooster for her and see what babies she would give.

I think her babies would be beautiful! And she would make an amazing mother hen I think.
