Flock raiser feed

With only four chickens, it's not good to buy 50 pounds of feed, unless you can share it with another poultry owner nearby. Flock Raiser only comes in that sized bag, so you may need to make a different choice.

I have fed Country Companion All Flock as well.

Also you could research the brands your store carries and since most brands make an all flock the store may be able to order it in for you from one of their regular brands.

IDK if your are talking to someone else, but I have twelve chickens.

Maybe talking to me? I have only 4BO & purchase Flock Raiser 50#.

Living in HI we don't have the choice selections like you all (Mainland) do. I could purchase the Walmart brand (40#), cheapest feed. Hilo has 2 feed store, Dels/TSC or Miranda's, local owned & operated that sells Nutrena. Miranda's will sell by the pound which gets very costly, example I just purchased 10# of BOSS for $17 before I checked Dels (40# for $19). Due to delivery & shipping the freshest we get is at least a month past mill date, Winter months it's even longer & IF the ships make it in (weather conditions in the Pacific). I have tried finding someone to split a bag with but no luck.

So what I've started doing is freezing my feed, may not be the best but I'm open to more ideas. I portion out the bag into (7) 2gal freezer ziplock, removing all the air & putting it into another freezer ziplock. Removing & defrosting as I need ... Defrosting takes a day or two depending on our weather, I make sure it's dry before putting it into another bag that I ferment from.
I should get more chickens :ya I would if I was allowed/permitted :hit

Can you get Purina Non-Medicated Start & Grow in a 25# bag. My hens love it.
I have 3 hens and that's what I've been buying. I keep it in my house tightly closed with a bag clip and take out what I need in a pail.

ETA; a 25 pound bag lasts about 8 weeks this time of year, about 5 weeks in Winter.
