Thank you. Once again, honesty appreciated and it's what I came here for. Last Q I guess is the one I have just posted... Thanks. You are not being silly... you are thinking ahead. And it’s only a matter of time before they start not being so nice to each other.... I know it’s hard but roosters have one goal once they mature... to mate. Two of them will overmate your hens and cause injury anyways. All my roosters have always fought -‘regardless of whether they were raised together or not.
You may have to see how it goes. Likely, you will need to separate unless some crazy rooster miracle happens, which is not likely. I don't have an issue with 2 flocks, ducks+ an few hens who get beat up, and a flock of 8 on the other side of the fence.Thank you. I am reluctant to split the run as all birds will end up with less space and I wonder if I am just being silly. The two boys at the moment leave each other alone.
So one needs to go. Or both - which I thought was nice as they'll go together, and recognise each other in a new home, but maybe that's in my head? One is already showing some aggression (light Sussex) whereas the RIR is calm and friendly at the mo... But hasn't started ROOing! You may have to see how it goes. The "gebtle" one may be gentle as no ROOing yet so I guess he hasn't matured? Plus even if he remained gentle as an only roo, I am worried about noise.Keep the gentler one. Roosters have no interest in being friends with other roosters... would you want another man in your house to share your wife? And you may be attached to them but I’m telling you.... as soon as they mature they will have no interest in you anymore.
you could post pictures of them if you wanted to be sure, but RIR's are pretty easy to tell gender. Never had a Sussex though. So one needs to go. From your roosters perspective, he would want to be the only one.So one needs to go.
