Floor of elevated coop - wire vs hard surface

Hi,
We made our's much bigger because we knew we were going to add more chics.
We went w/ the 1 inch hardware cloth underneath. Every morning when I go out to let them out, I check their floor and if there is any poop is on the floor, I have a child's hoe that I use to rake it thru the wire. That way every few days or week I open the draws and scoop it out. We layed roofing flashing on the bottom of the draws for easy clean up. The floor under is opened so if they poop when the draw is out it falls to the ground. The walls and roof are insulated. So is the underneath of the draws. We used hay bails around to further insulate because we live in a fairly cold area. The windows have 1/2 hardware cloth on the inside and we made insert's w/ 2 inch foam insulation that has the outsides panel on it to insulate. We pull them out in good weather for circulation. We also have the large clean up door that we could leave open but we never had a reason to.

Glad you like it. Were now making a new coop but for our new (2) Pekin
ducks! Their so cute, we're hoping 1 is a girl. Our youngest hatest our chickens but
likes ducks, can you figure kids?! Oh Well thanks for sharing!
