So I got my three chicks today and had to show them off. I am completely in love! I even have a baby monitor set up so I can watch them sleep:) I wonder what time the peeping will start, ha ha!

YAY!

Buffy, the week old Buff Orpington

Audrey, the two day old Black Australorp

Ellie, the two day old Easter Egger

And what is sitting on my table beside the bed right now....

:)

I decided to post an ongoing thread on what happened when we put some of our Red Star eggs under a broody hen. The Red Stars were covered by my spare Wheaten Roo who was being held in their girls dorm at the time. I thought it might be fun for my son and I to document the results. and we're using a BYC forum to do it.
If you're interested, the thread is here. We would love some fellow Floridain insight!

Woohoo. Congrats. Love finding those first eggs! The boys I got from you are doing wonderfully. With all the other older roos her though neither of them have let out a crow yet lol. I just ordered some wheaten Ameraucana eggs to try to hatch them out a couple of pure Am girls since all 6 of their current girls are Am split EEs. I will most likely sell one of the EE hens who lays a beige colored egg and add 3 pure Wheaten Am girls to the coop. The other 5 EE hens lay blue or green. The boys are feathering in so beautifully and are starting to get their adult plumage. Just love watching the babies grow up :) Congrats again on your eggies :)
