That sure is a pretty bird in your avatar. Is she a Columbian Wyandotte?

On your perimeter fencing how far apart are the posts? Do you use 4X4? What size wire? My friend has the water cups that come off and are easy cleaned. Also saw an interesting set up at GFF, they use the workings of a toilet to lessen the pressure on their nipple waters. This is great stuff..... thank goodness for the internet and people willing to share their time and knowledge.
I'm not really sure but now the posts are probably around 8 to 10 feet apart. I did put posts in between the ones we originally put up. I have chicken wire around the perimeter. I am changing to 2 x4 inch welded wire separating the pens which is also chicken wire. It breaks down after a few years and I'm tired of replacing it so changing over to the welded wire. I'm no spring chicken any more and it's getting harder to do.

No I am no spring chicken either...... as they say a bit long in the tooth. I had planned to use 2X4 welded wire myself.

Hi, all - sorry this is a bit random, but my chickens were outside on the veranda and i could not resist taking this photo.

This is one of my 5 month old girls and she shares a lot of similarities with the light sussex in the photo above - one of her sisters is in the background. They are a mix of commercial birds and a mix roo. Just shows that there must be some sussex genes in there somewhere!

Hi Chris, how nice to see you here! She sure does look a lot like that. Funny, I never paid much attention to the Light Sussex before, but I'm really liking the looks. I have 2 Speckled Sussex in my mixed flock and love their personalities.

Thanks for the picture!

Hi Debby,

I saw your new avatar on the new posts board so I thought I'd better check to see what you were up to. I have three that look like her- she's about as close as I'll ever get to having a "standard breed" chicken, cos here in Kenya, they don't exist!

All the best

I like to switch my avatar out frequently (and tomorrow is Groundhog Day so will have a different one then!).

Nothing wrong with mixed breed chickens...I've heard some of those lay better than the pure breeds and they can be beautiful birds so it's all good!
