FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Welcome and good luck with your predator problem!

I am in north west Polk county

I have a few birds left after the bobcat invasion of 2011. I have 7 chickens, 3 turkeys, 5 ducks, 10 duck hatchlings, 1 miserable Chinese gander (he needs a mate) I used to have more birds but they got picked off by a team of bobcats. Now I lock them up tight at night and am trying different ways to rid myself of the predators.

Glad to be part of the forum. Lots of good people here and a wealth of knowledge.

edit: forgot the 16 chicks happy in their new brooder

from Lake Wales. Had the same problem last summer. It finally moved on.

Hi, I went to the feed store and they was out of Buff Orpingtons. They had chicks but I'm new to chicken-mothering that I was scared to try. They had finished my coop I think it to high so I will take some pictures and I hope to get some advice. I did get two Black Stars they had in the back. Bertha and Peaches are in a old dog cage on my back porch and they love it I'm keeping the door open right now. Later I will move them to the coop for a little bit today but at night they come in until I know it safe for them. Downtown Orlando have animal and human pests. I hope still to get some Buff Orpingtons and Silkies. I wish I could find a seller closer to Orlando (sucks I don't have a car). I'm getting up guts to do wing clips, and Bertha a biter I love it she got attitude while Peaches is much more calmer but just as loved. Going to make myself some coffee and give my chick-kids some worms. Will be posting pictures later today if not tomorrow. Everyone take care.

Can't wait to see your pic's. Too bad about no car. I'm only about an hour away. I raise Buff Orpingtons from stock I got from a breeder not a hatchery.

Welcome to the newbies, and happy chickening!

I had a great first hatch of my Rouen ducks - 6/7 - and have orders from two more people for them. I could stick a few more eggs in with theirs if anyone is interested! Can you really resist this face?
