FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

well, I have been working him over big time for the cackle hatchery grab bag-I was reading a thread last night, it seemed like they got a lot of interesting birds. So quick question, ,if I end up doing it, will anyone here be interested in buying the extras off of me cheap?

Slow down, girl! You need a coop for the ones you've got first! You could find the interesting ones you want from people here and then not have all the extras. That postage will kill you!

Hey Hey Hey.....I was just thinking of you today. I've got 3 extra Black Aussie roos that I got from Stan, as soon as I can decide which one I'm gonna keep. LOL

Too freaking funny, I was wondering how long was going to take for the roo jokes to start...no long! lol I'm about to set some eggs for the 1st time under my 1st brrody...I bet I'll get nothing but roos! lol

Yeah, since they upgraded BYC and my job is still on windows 6 I can't open BYC at work.....and it's hard for me to get on when I get home...We have so many new members...wow!!

,

Yes definitely stil need the coop-we drew it out last night. But it would be 25 day old chicks for a total of $40. And everyone has gotten at least 2 turkeys (which is what I really want) and 2 ducks. Some even got a goose! And then the rest are all very interesting and mostly uncommon breeds round these parts...I was thinking I would keep maybe 5 and sell off the rest. Cause I mean, we only have 8 right now :)

Another florida question-I was telling my husband that I KNOW we won't "make" money off these chickens, but now that I know a little more than I did 2 weeks ago, I am thinking that if I DO want to hatch and sell babies, then I need to decide on a breed or 2. I was reading hatching horror stories the other day, so sad. So anyway, I was thinking I probably need to do some actual pure bred breeding, versus my beautiful and diverse flock.

Several people at the swap meet seemed to be all excited about my NN and also when they thought I had "showgirls". Right now I have the NN and 2 Silkies. Do you think there would be much of a demand for those?

What other breeds or cross breeds do you think there would be a demand for? I was thinking as well, that maybe a NN crossed with these heavy layers, since the NN's are known as good in heat, or should I go full purebred and if so, what breed? Maybe purebred NN's? Or something else...

Of our 4 hens, we have a Black Australorp, a Black Jersey Giant & 2 Gold-Laced Wyandottes, We just got 6 chicks...they are suppose to be 4 red pullets, a White Leghorn & a Bantam...

I have a wonderful Australorp rooster, but no hens yet. The roo is good enough I want to breed him with some good hens. I also have a flock of golden laced wyandottes. We have similar taste in chickens.

........sorry , that just struck my funny bone because I'm over run with chicks this year. ....stan

Stan, I still plan to help you out getting rid of those chicks. I have been trying to post on craigslist for 3 days to get rid of some of mine to make room and I keep getting timed out. Anyone
around Plant City want ducks or roosters?

If you want to sell them, I would stick with purebred. You can work on developing your own chicken, but most people will only pay good money for a particular breed. If you are going to breed make it something you love that does well here in Florida. Make sure you are willing to cull your flock before you start producing extras. They may not all sell no matter which breed you choose.
