FLORIDA!!!!!ALWAYS SUNNY SIDE UP!!!

Can someone please recommend a good hatchery that's in Florida if possible? I had 8 chicks (6 weeks now) and I'm down to 5--3 roosters were given to a lady with a farm to take care of. Now one of my laced Wyandotte's is making this pitiful sound that is loud and crowish. I keep saying it to pullet but my husband says I'm in denial. So what I am looking for is a place where I can get one or two Ameraucana 's that are sexed so I don't have to go through getting close to them and then having to find another place for them to live if they turned out to be a rooster. I've already lost one Ameraucana and I have one more that is starting to get a fairly pink on it's comb.

It's been a while since I got this info from another member, but there is (was?) a DD Chickens & Hatchery in Newberry, FL, they are west of Gainesville. You could try a Google search to see if you can find out more information.

It's hard to tell. I'm guessing the top one is a pullet and the bottom one may be a cockerel. :idunno

I hope the top is a pullet, that's my sons favorite. The bottom one not only makes a horrible noise throughout the day but when it starts a fight, the hackle feathers stuck out but maybe that happens on pullets too, I have no idea this is my first run with chickens

@poppycock1974 there is Greenfire Farms in Midway, FL. They sell some of the rarer breeds so this might not be what you want right now.

Pampered Pullets Farm is in Ocala: http://www.thepamperedpulletsfarm.com/Home_Page.html
From their website, it appears they don't ship but do go to a number of area shows and swaps. Their site also has a page with a few local breeders.

Hope you find what you're looking for!

Wonderful !!! Thank you so much!

Hi from Crazy Town, Bassetgal15! Have you run into the zoning restrictions in town yet? Or are you wisely located outside of town? I live in a neighborhood on the west side of town, where the lots are barely 90ftx110ft.
In town, we have to keep our coops 100ft from the neighbors' homes and they are supposed to be confined to a pen that also must be 100 feet from the neighbors' homes. *sigh*. How do you do that when the houses are less than 100 feet apart back door to back door, and less than 40 feet side to side?
We really need to get that zoning for chickens changed to something reasonable, Like 10 or 15 feet from any property line. We can't control where our neighbors built their houses! (and city hall claims that Lake Helen is farm animal friendly. HA!)

Eric of the Pampered Pullet Farm is a neighbor and friend of mine. There is a poultry show this coming weekend, I don't know if he will be attending. When he goes he usually sells poultry and livestock supplies. He does sell chicks but not usually at the shows. We have a couple of swap meets monthly and sometimes he will bring chicks to sell. You will have to get in touch with him. Sometime I hatch chicks for him. Great person with nice birds.

If you are looking for certain breeds and don't mind paying shipping, why not try an online source? I recently got my chicks from http://chickensforbackyards.com/ and I found their customer service and their peeps exceptional. They have over 30 breeds, including Easter Eggers. They are shipping out now with orders only taking a week from when you place them until you get them.

Here is a photo of my babies, including Barred Rocks, Australorps and Speckled Sussexes.
