A.T. Hagan :

I plan to be there. I'll be bringing White Midget turkey poults.

I only took half of them to the swap yesterday so I'll be bringing the other half to Nava's on the fifth. I'll have one more grown tom for sale then too. And if I can make room for them a mess of surplus roosters.

If the turkeys will keep laying I'm seriously considering setting another batch of eggs.

Would these be a good place to put a broody or two? I have a couple that if they don't knock it off by June 15, they'll be dead, but I have others just starting. I see a real need.
I hate to ask, but could you give me a ball park price?
Thanks.

I use a wire cage for any of mine that go broody and usually 3/4 days and nights woks for me. I just had some go broody. I call it chicken jail. I have had to put a couple of birds in jail a couple of times as the general rule of 3/4 days in jail didn't work but most of the time it does for me. They don't like sleeping on the wire.

PS
The cage I use is either a 4' x 18" x 18" or a 3' x 18" x 18". When it quits raining I'll go out and see what I have for a price on them.

PSS
I just went out and I have a 1" x2" wire mesh cage 3' x 18" x 18" for $30.00. I sold the 4' x 18" x 18" but can build another. I usually have one or two cages in stock of each size and when I sell one then I make another of the same size. The 4' x 18" x 18" is $40.00. In some I put 1/2" x 1/2" wire in the bottoms which I charge a little more for.

Here are some pictures.

3' x 18" x 18" $30.00

3' x 18" x 18" w/ 1/2" bottom $35.00

4' x 24" x 24" (3 - 16" holes) $60.00
w/ 1/2" bottom. In some of the cages. I have put a dowell through the wire for a roost.

We will be there! The husband is all 'eggsited', too!
Now I just have to go back through all of the posts and see what I missed...because if we weren't going to get to go, then I didn't want to know what I was missing.

I just had one go broody and I put her in chicken jail last week to make her stop. It worked. She has started laying again and not in a nest box day and night.
