Florida welfare drug testing

I thought tax return and welfare were 2 different things? On welfare you still get tax returns. I pay taxes which pay teachers. If I want to go to school they tell me I must pay. But I could say I already paid since my taxes paid their paycheck.

I work at the VA which is ran by the government and they drug tested me. I pay taxes which help other people on welfare who use that same tax money. They might have failed drug test at their work so they get on welfare cause they make same amount of money, but they are not drug tested and they don't have to work.

Really? I wonder why I am required to take drug test to get and keep my JOB? If I have to take a drug test then they should too.

So using your logic, your home should be open for inspection to your employer. You might have pens from work or something...

One government job I was applying for (which paid well, by the way, even for an entry level position) required random drug tests. I work for the local government (just for the summer) and they will also conduct random drug tests. It seems ludicrous that any entity, whether it be private or the government, should have the right to conduct a drug test if it was not given a reason to do so. I can understand that certain jobs should have drug tests, but a clerical job? Perhaps if the government would get to the roots of some of the problems in the first place, more people would not need welfare...but that's probably a topic for another thread..

See theirs the assumption of drug use. Anyone that has had a job an payed taxes payed for welfare an should not be treated as a possible drug addict to get those benefits when they are in a spot to need them. The Idea that "I" am paying for "them" is not really true. "We" are paying for "us". But a few people work the system. That does not me the rest of "us" should be treated like crooks for needing what "we" payed for.

Taking a drug test is not being treated like a crook. When I did sports for school you had to get a physical. One of the processes of the physical was drug testing.

If the employer requires drug testing and someone has a problem with it don't apply work where drugs are accepted. This thread is about welfare recipients getting tested and the same applies. The law is for those that break it. I for one would like to see all government workers tested if for anything more than safety. Insurance is cheaper if you drug test also.

There are too many examples of abuse in the system to not drug test really.
