Flower Power, winter has been to long crochet swap, closes March 10

I have a pattern, but it could be beyond me. I'll try it and, if I can't get it, I'll do something simple.

I found a pattern and sat down last night to try it out. Well, you know how that goes - I could not put it down untill I finished it (11:00 pm) I just had to know if it was really going to be 6 inches.

What a happy surprise it was

and I think it is really pretty. I've never really done granny squares. I hope I can repeat it.

Wooo Hoooo, gotta love it when a plan comes together. If you did it once surly you can repeat it. The best thing about crochet is even the most complicated pattern is one stitch at a time (as long as you can figure out what the pattern is telling you to do!

Yes the instructions can be cryptic! But hopefully the results are acceptable. I can always resort to just green if this doesn't work out

I am very glad for the suggestion to add the green square option for any who don't feel like they can't do the flowers but still want to participate. I am hoping though that all of us use this opportunity to flex and grow our crocheting skills "muscles"

I am. I'm away from home and my patterns. I'd only once tried a 3-D square and failed, just have difficulties with patterns. For this swap, I found a tutorial online for a 3-D flower square and tried it. It worked and I'm making beautiful flower squares. Thanks to y'all and those on past swaps for the inspiration.

That is great, glad you figured it out. I have been looking at pics but haven't decided on a pattern yet. I need to get busy w/ that before time slips away.

My MIL is sooooo excited about this swap, she is down right giddy. lol

I can relate. I have a baby shower coming up and I'm having a ball going through patterns. For the swap, I can recommend a couple of pattern books if anyone is interested. I have a bunch of books I got because I'm hooked (get it?) on creating my own designs.

I also came across a persons blog about crocheted flowers and she has some amazing stuff most of her patterns are free, if you google 365 crochet flower project it should come up. They are probably on the good crochet skills level, and worth giving a look at them even if your not going to crochet them, just to see what a hook and some thread can make, I was blown away.
