Flower Power, winter has been to long crochet swap, closes March 10

Hi! I've never made granny squares before and am not the fastest crocheter in the world...but I enjoy making baby hats, dishcloths etc. I'm so tempted to join this swap, even though I've never participated in one before. Can you tell me a bit more about this...the number of blocks that may be needed, when they will be due and what brand yarn may be used? Vannas Choice is on sale this week 2 for $6 at Michaels and I llike the colors they offer. Would that be a good yarn?

It is all on the first post, but the completion/mail due date is Ap 8th.

Any yarn any color for this swap is acceptable, just all non flower portions of square need to be green, any green.

The number of squares depends on the number of swapper we end up w/ it is 8 right now, 9 w/ you, but the number may go up until the sign up deadline which is March 10

Hope you choose to join us I think it will be fun.

If you can make hats and dishcloths, you can make squares. It might be easier for you to make green squares than to attempt flowers at this point. There are a couple of squares which are very easy; one is all sc plus corners, one is 3dc, 1ch plus corners. I would guess there are instructions out there somewhere. It would be great to have you with us.

These are some of the squares that I really like....I'm not sure if any are the correct size...most of these pics came from online blogs and Ravelry. Would these kinds of square be appropriate if they are not too difficult for me?

Those are all great and would work fine for the swap. You can make the flower parts any color and the othr parts green, and if they are to small you can just add rounds until you get to the 6 inches.

Quote: I am. I'm away from home and my patterns. I'd only once tried a 3-D square and failed, just have difficulties with patterns. For this swap, I found a tutorial online for a 3-D flower square and tried it. It worked and I'm making beautiful flower squares. Thanks to y'all and those on past swaps for the inspiration.
Can you share the pattern that you like?

I will. I got it from an online tutorial and will see if I can find it again. If I can't, I'll try to write out the pattern, but it's complicated (for me, some of you might find it easy). I'll post a picture today and you can let me know whether you think it worth looking up.

Count me in. Just one question, do all the blocks I send have to be the same?
