Flu season 2010-11

How many lives were saved because they figured out cow pox gives a better immune response to small pox.. Edward Jenner wasn't it?

I'm not saying all vaccines are bad but all vaccines have a risk and a price. I'll take a bad flu any day over an injection.

We had a friend who was an older gentleman (around 60) who was in good health get the H1N1 shot last year and died 2 or 3 days later. From what I've heard, you are more likely to die from the H1N1 vaccine than the swine flu itself.

I dunno, ask the mods how bad off I was.. I was driving them all insane for 3 weeks being a bed ridden butthead.

There is a huge risk for folks with heart issues and old age.. Reason why I get the vaccines

I just caught one of the first confirmed cases in our area b4 the vaccine was available

Boyd did a class concerning the H1N1 flu. It is a concern to mutate, but no sign yet.
The few people who were infected with the bird flu did not follow proper hygenie and also had constant contact with sick birds and got it.
Too much info to try and type here.
The Spainish flu was interesting to discuss. Especially of how quickly it took to go around the world in that time and how fast it would travel if it came about today.

As for getting the flu vaccine it should be up to each person to make that choice.

As for me I get more sinus infections and colds then anything. Got one right now.

So the 2 questions on the table now are:

Now, generic question about vaccines.. I've had h1n1 already (with no vaccine involved) and it was MISERABLE. Do I need a vaccine for this year, or will my immunities cover it... Does this version of the flu mutate like the spanish flu? (Boyd's question)

and

Is this years vaccine different than last years since the drug manufacturers (albeit thieving, over pricing, mistress loving, golf playing manufacturers) have had more time to create and produce?

If I missed another question still looking for an answer, shout it out again!

The one time I got the flu shot I was very sick after. Two family members and a family friend have had the same experience. A co-workers elderly uncle became paralyzed the day after getting the shot. Those are just people I know personally who have had bad reactions, not counting the hundreds of accounts I have read about online. Due to the fact that after taking the shot I became sick with the very thing it was 'protecting' me from, I will take a pass. I am always surprised by how many people decide to take these shots.

Instead of taking the flu shot I try to get a good amount of sun or I take vitamin d. I take Echinacea when I start to feel sick or if someone around me gets sick. I haven't been very ill for a long time, knock on wood.

Why do you need a flu shot? If you eat a healthy diet, eliminate toxins that suppress your immune system and get sleep your body will naturally fight off the flu with no help from meds.

I am immune compromised and I don't take any flu shots. Some how I survived the dread H1N1.

lol I am also immune compromised and after I had the swine flu, I had to have steroids and a Z pack to get rid of the accompanying pneumonia.
