Fly problem and rat concen/disease

Hi everyone. Im new at this. We have had chickens for about 7 months now taised since they were babies so they are my daughter's pets. She touch them all the time and plays with them but Im concerned about diseases. I read an article about Leptopirosis and Im freaking out. Our coop is sealed. I dont think rodents can get into it but we saw one living inside our shed close to the chickens. Their food is inside a bucket we build so there is no spoilage or food around the coop either.what is the best solution for rats? Also the floes are sickening. Too many I tried fly traps but they are so many and I hate flyes. Any solutions??? Txs!!!!

Keep a clean coop and use an electric rat trap. I have a terrible mouse problem in my coop. Two of my chickens are hunters, but I have to have a trap set all the time.
