Fly Trap Accident

Never claimed to be the brightest bulb!

Put a sticky fly trap in a, clear to me now, bad location.

Poor little Raven was brought to me missing a ton of feathers and still wrapped around the fly trap.

Put Raven in a warm sink bath.
Tried Dawn.
Tried nail polish remover.
Tried 50% Isopropyl.

The isopropyl did the best I think, but she's still sticky.
And now has bald spots, including missing lots of wing feathers.

I'm thinking she's in a lot of pain. Squirted some witch hazel on bald patches to soothe the skin, seemed to help.

She's drying off in the brooder.

vet rx will help she will do fine but others may pick at her
might try a bit of Dawn dish soap on her

Poor girl, just keep her warm and comfortable, apologize with some treats and let time do the healing.

Should I keep her in the brooder?

I know this is a big no no for pathogens on the babies, but it's pouring rain outside. She cannot fly, and her back is bald!

For the future, any sort of cooking oil will work to release an animal from a glue trap. Vegetable oil, etc.....

Raven is a bantam chicken.

And I promise we didn't rip those feathers out ourselves, she came to me stuck to the trap with those feathers already ripped out on the trap.

At least she's getting along with the chicks?

You need to purchase a product called Skin-So-Soft (Avon), and apply it to the affected plumage, it will help soften and remove the sticky tape glue, then use Dawn dish detergent to remove the product.
