The night is dark as four chickens meet. One brown, one buff, one gray, and one white. Moonlight is their only guide to the clearing. They were brought together from different places to this one forest, running away not because they were abused but because they were different. Each bird brought others who shared their gifts of power. Every group grew with chickens who were willing to join other birds who were like them.

A decade later, what has happened to these four groups?

Welcome to the forest of Alekta, where they all thrive today.

The birds of Alekta forest all have powers over an ancient element. There is one flock for each element: the Water Flock, the Earth Flock, the Fire Flock, and the Air Flock.

Who will you join?

Rules:

No cursing
Keep the violence to a low PG-13 at the most. This might get a little violent, but no extreme gore in fight scenes.
Do not kill or cripple another character without the other person's permission
One blow per post in a fight. The other person decides the injury taken. (This must be realistic.)
Chickens do not receive their powers until they are six months old!
Your chicken may have chicks with another chicken. This must be discussed with the other player if the other character is controlled by them. Keep all decisions between birds to have chicks VERBAL and do not explain how they got them.
The only animals you can RP are chickens. Your birds may encounter other creatures but these may not be RPed as characters.
No magic other than use of the elements.
Your bird may have ONE element. This MUST match their flock's.
In a fight scene, your character may only dodge 1 out of 4 blows. All blows taken should have injuries AT LEAST as bad as a paper-cut.
You may use your chickens' powers in a fight. They have been designed to be equal.
Chickens who are loners with powers MUST join the flock of their element if they join one.
Even though this is a magic RP, please be realistic in a fight. A bantam cannot defeat a Jersey Giant unless they have help.
Please be realistic with healing. The herbs provided by me in he RP do not speed the healing process.

The Flocks:

Fire Flock: The Fire Flock is made up of chickens whose power is in the element fire. Fire Flock members can control and summon fire. To keep it fair. Fire summoned by Fire Chickens must remain ON the chicken to be within reach of their powers. Once the fire spreads to another bird or thing they have NO control over it anymore. Fire Flock members cannot summon fire more than a foot away from themselves. The symbol of the Fire Flock is the mythical phoenix. They believe one of the greatest leaders the flock has ever seen will be a phoenix chicken. YOU CAN'T "BLAST WITH FIRE" the other chicken must be in contact with you.

Water Flock: The Water Flock is made up of chickens who can control the water element. Water Flock chickens can walk on water and control it. Chickens cannot control water that is more than two feet away from them. The water can splash other chickens but cannot grab or drown them. Water Chickens must be in a good state of health (no broken bones) to walk on water. YOU CAN'T "BLAST WITH WATER" with the strength of a hose. The strongest they can use is a large splash. The symbol of the Water Flock is the fish. While it is not strong or powerful like other flock symbols, they respect the fish for its quickness in the water.

Earth Flock: The Earth Flock has power over the element Earth. Their power is summoning earthquakes during a fight. The earthquakes CANNOT cause damage beyond a yard of the chicken who started it and shouldn't be strong enough to split open the ground. For every chicken who teams up with the first to start a bigger earthquake, you may add one more foot of damage. The symbol of the Earth Flock is the snake. While they fear it like all other predators, they also honor it for its closeness to the earth. Chickens who have survived a snake attack are very respected in this flock.

Air Flock: The Air Flock can control the air and the winds. Their power is advanced flying abilities. They can fly for about a mile at a steady pace a foot or so off the ground. Air chickens can also fly higher than the usual chicken can, but only for a few minutes. Air Flock members are very skilled in flight the moment they can fly. It is said they are hatched with the ability to fly so high. The symbol for the Air Flock is the raven. They admire it for its sharp eyes and skill in the air.

Territories:

Each flock lives in the territory marked with its element.

The land is mostly ancient forest. There are many trees to perch on in Alekta.

The darkest river is the River Alekta. It runs through the territories of Water Flock and Fire Flock.

The lightest river is the River Gallus. It runs through the territories of Air Flock and Earth Flock.

Ranks:

The ______ Cock: (Insert their element: The Fire Cock, The Air Cock etc. Must match flock.) The Lead Cock (as referred to here) rules the flock with his mate, the Lead Hen. He settles most disputes alongside her. Decides with her when the flock goes to war.

The ______ Hen: (Insert their element: The Earth Hen, The Water Hen, etc. Must match flock.) The Lead Hen rules the flock alongside her mate, the Lead Cock. She settles most disputes alongside her mate. Decides with him when the flock goes to war.

Flock Supervisor: The Flock Supervisor helps the lead pair guide the flock and manages problems they can't attend to. Unlike other ranks, when the Lead Hen and Cock retire or die, the Flock Supervisor simply becomes the NEXT leading pair's supervisor. The Flock Supervisor decides on the next flock supervisor before retiring. If the Flock Supervisor dies unexpectedly, The lead pair will choose the next one.

Herb Chicken: The Herb Chicken takes care of the flock's health with the assistance of medicinal herbs. When there is no sickness or injuries in the flock the Herb Chickens are normal Midranks. There can be up to two Herb Chickens in the flock: an upper and a lower. The upper Herb Chicken takes on a young bird (preferably under six months) and teaches them the different plants used in healing. The learning Herb Chicken is referred to as the lower Herb Chicken. When the upper Herb Chicken dies or retires the lower one automatically becomes the upper Herb Chicken. THERE CANNOT BE A LOWER HERB CHICKEN IN A FLOCK UNTIL THERE IS AN UPPER ONE.
(If you have an Herb Chicken, PM me for the Herb Chicken Guide or look at Page 2.)

Midrank: The Midranks are chickens who have been in battles before and have reached maturity. Midranks are respected but do not have to be obeyed. All Midranks have the right to fight their way up the pecking order.

Lowranks: Ranked just below the Midranks, Lowranks are mature chickens who have not fought in battles yet. Lowranks must have their powers. Before they can become a leader or Flock Supervisor Lowranks must become Midranks.

Mothers: Mothers are hens brooding and/or raising chicks or eggs. This rank is temporary and they will return to their normal ranks when their chicks have grown up.

Chicks: Even though they may have reached maturity, chickens are considered "chicks" until they are six months old and receive their powers. Once they are six months old chicks will become Lowranks or lower Herb Chickens.

Retired: Retired Chickens are chickens who have spent most of their life fighting for the flock and have earned a peaceful life. While they are excluded from the pecking order, they may always return to Midrank position.

The Elemental Code:

Protect the flock. This is the most important of them all.
Other flocks are your neighbors but also your rivals. Trespassing birds should be fought to the death when possible regardless of where they come from.
Chicks and Retired Chickens are the only chickens who have food brought to them. All other chickens must find their own food. Food is not stored anywhere.
When the Lead Hen or Cock dies their mate must step down or find a new mate. There may NOT be one chicken leading a flock at ANY time.
When there is no Lead Hen or Cock the strongest rooster or hen in the flock will take over with their mate. Let all fights necessary break out in this time.
Loners can only be accepted into the flock if they have proven themselves in some way.
Chickens under six months (powerless) go into battle at their own risk.
Treat you flock as your family and rivals as foes. The balance of love and resentment will be even this way.
Stand by your flock. As a chicken out here, its all you have.

Beliefs:

The flocks believe that when a chicken dies he or she joins their ancestors and their spirits exist in the element the flock controls. They believe these chickens cannot visit them but instead guide them by lending them strength in their powers.

The flocks call the moon the Gallus Egg. The "egg" slowly "hatches" over the course of the moon cycle. On the New Moon, when the egg is considered "hatched" it is good luck (or so they say) for the flock. The Full Moon is a new beginning, but an especially bright moon is a bad omen.
