Please help. I'm not new to raising hens ,but new to hen hatching eggs. Watch an egg hatch for 24 hours . When I last check on its progress to my horror a hole in its neck and cover in maggots. Took me 3 hours to get them all off. I had to squeeze the maggots out of the wound . I put Neosporin on the wound . Separated it from mom and her other chick's . Brought her indoors with heat lamp . She is still alive this morning cuddled up to a little fluffy bear I put in with it. It will peep but just really tired it looks. My thought is the fly laid the eggs on the egg while it was hatching for so long and ate the hole in its neck. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated . The vetramycin I know thats not the correct spelling says don't put on open wound ,like a hole
