FML...the coop we ordered is from a scam company, help!

Thing is, when you buy those plastic sheds you STILL need to make modifications which while possible aren't just "screw a board to the frame". And they need a lot more ventilation and 1/2" hardware cloth covering all openings. Seems like little more work to stick build a coop.

Commercial coops like that are way over rated for capacity. Most say 4 and I would not put more than 1 in there. Do you have time and ability to build your own. $500 will buy a good amount of lumber and if you can find used lumber even better.
I might do that in the future but right now she’s needing tlc so she’s in my house. The pen portion will be outside so I can let her get sun and fresh air. I’ve posted some pics.

The nesting box is on the outside. Can't tell how far the roosts are from the wall.

The nest boxes are part of the overall depth I'd bet and are part of the inside even though you can open them from the outside. The roosts look too close to the wall and each other. The poor lower birds will get pooped on all night...

Are there any shed builders local, you know you see them on the side of the road with a bunch of different sheds for sale.

I've seen worse, easy to put together. And Yes watching the video the depth includes the nest boxes. Good to know for siting in a smaller area but easily confusing as to how much interior space there is. I would guess exclusive of the nest box it is about 40" deep. That is a footprint of just under 14 sq ft. Of course those are exterior dimensions so probably need to reduce by about 6" for interior space unless one is including the stud space as "usable". It says "up to 10 chickens" ... maybe, if bantams. 5 LF seems reasonable but I wouldn't want them locked up inside during the day. Also needs a lot more ventilation.

That was my first thought re: the amish coop. Not near enough ventilation. It sounds to me like you don't feel confident making your own coop, at least quickly. I would urge you to give a hoop coop a try, it's not too hard, and quick. Then you can take your time researching your options for something permanent. Maybe by then you'll have your money back from the credit card company.

I agree with checking Craigslist/FB marketplace for someone selling a used coop or shed. I bought a 6x8 coop for $300 a couple of weeks ago. I’m making a few minor changes but the bulk of the work was done. A hoop coop was my backup plan bc I have zero skills & it looked the easiest to build. Good luck!

I purchased from them too. It is very very cheaply made! They talked me into a different one than i wanted and didnt explain that that didnt include the run. When i called them back they said it would be $250 to ship it. I told them to forget it. I am using it, but in the process of looking for a shed as they are crowded in there. Do not buy from these people!

Sorry you got shafted and thanks for posting. Always good to be able to learn from someone's bad experience. Hopefully enough "reviews" like this will show up when people research coops.
