Foghorn + Miss Prissy

Foghorn and Miss Prissy are five month old Red Stars. This is a photo taken last week while they were resting in the dirt. I have six other Red Star hens who are the same age. I received them as day-old chicks from my local feed and seed in April. They are pretty used to their surroundings now; they have their own fenced yard with a huge, insulated/heated chicken coop. Spoiled birds, they are!

I wondered what genetic influence caused some of my chicks to have red shoulders... Now I know. Beautiful pair!
