I know that there is meat as protein in their food. Can I feed them leftover ham? Or is that too salty?

I was also perusing my Meyers catalog that came in the mail and it said not to feed fruit... my birds love fruit more than most veggies... why would they say that or is that just for baby chicks?

thanks everyone

I too give my girls fruit - i grind up apples and grapes and they love them. Have also given them strawberries and bananas. Some chickens don't like bananas, but they're one of my girls' favorites!

I heard fruit is good for them except citrus fruits, like oranges, lemons, lines, grapefruit etc. Melons, grapes, bananas and apples are ok. Not sure what's true or not.

Ham is fine. As long as it's just PLAIN ham. Tdub4chiks- they can have a little citrus, but only on rare occasions and a small amount.

thanks guys... I just wondered because the ham is pretty salty and I know they should not have too much salty stuff. I only gave them a little but they loved it.
