People riding in Escalades and living in the projects make their livings by pumping out babies by different daddies and working the system. While they are doing this their flavor of the week boyfriend is selling drugs right out of the government apartment making a few hundred grand a year.

In Ohio, you can only get it for 3 years (36 months) in your lifetime.

When I was going to college I needed them and though it took about an hour each month I got about $35.00 in food stamps. It really helped out.

I think if you are a working tax payer you should be able to get assistance if you need it. You are paying taxes afterall and that is what helps pay for these programs.

But that's not how a lot of state's run their programs. Maybe I'm just jaded a bit from living in the city, but when I see people using their "cards" for stupid purchases, like a pre-cooked chicken, sodas, Slim Fast Diet foods/shake mixes, Ramen Noodles, and just general junk and then they go out to their "cars", it is irritating. I know that there are people out there that use them for what they are intended for - a help, a boost up, but it seems like the ones that make it their careers are not being punished at all. I spoke with a cashier the other day and she said that the "cards" will even cover the deposit on pop (in Michigan, there's a ten cent deposit) and that they have witnessed people coming up, buying up a ton of pop, dumping it in the parking lot, returned the bottles/cans and then go and buy their booze or cigarettes. I think that there needs to be some major changes. First of all, why can't the people who receive assistance have a community garden in the summer time? Then also have classes on canning or freezing?

A lot of pride has gone away with our citizens. They don't have pride, they don't have common sense, they don't have common decency. Family values are the key thing to having pride, sense and decency.

Get the stamps! I am a school bus driver and drive for an area thats very nice, but there are a couple of apartments (sec 8.) around that no one works, the kids there have more things than the kids in 200,000plus homes. Heres the kicker, they all have boyfriends and tons of kids. I even know know one lady that lives there and she keeps having more kids. She did work as a bus driver, but was making too much money(her rent wouldn't have paid for by the gov.) Good Luck I hope things get better and remember, Wish for what you want, don't ever wish for what you don't want.

Well, that shouldn't be hard to do considering that seeds and most food bearing plants are considered food by the goverment, so can be purchased with the EBT cards. They can plant backyard gardens for their own family if they don't want to share with the community.
