hi all,
i have a 4 week (on thursday) duck male (i think). hes on chick crum and seams to be a health chap but i wanted to know if he should be feed anything elce at this age such as grit growers pelltets ect any tips would be fab

Also how can i keep him clean i know duck are dirty but hes sooo measy every time i go to him, ive just bought him a bigger drinker but he gets water every where including in his food

What can i do??? iam not with him all day as i work but when i come home i needs a bath as hes that measy

1. He needs Niacin. Chick Starter does not have enough of it in it for ducklings.

2. There's really not much you can do about the mess. Ducklings are so messy it's hard to prevent. What type of bedding are you using?
 
hi thanks at the moment hes in my bed room lol and hes in his own cage i use rubber matting as its eacy to clean. I just want to stop him from getting water everywhere
 
when I raised mine I went to a thrift store/ salvation army/ and bought good quality thick towels for cheap, and changed them twice daily, they absorb water and somewhat poop, then I just added a tad of laundry soap rung them out in the laundry tub and hung them to dry, get you about 7 of them, they worked great. also you can get a play pen from a thrift store too

Isn't it fun to watch them bath, not much you can do about the mess and they love to play in their water, you might try to put the bowl in something so when he splashes it out it doesn't go everywhere. also a thick towel under it all may help soak up the mess. be sure to keep him as dry as possible though, mold is something that is very unhealthy for ducklings.
