Foods that you wouldn't eat as a kid but now...

I hated liver, cantalope, and watermelon. Now I eat all three.

Liver, but I like it only if I cook it myself and get quality stuff. I get cravings for liver. Used to do anything to avoid liver.
Canned herring! Had an uncle that loved it and smoked cigars; the smell was the absolute most disgusting thing, yet now I eat herring regularly - but still loathe cigars. I HATE braet herring though, that's fried and pickled canned herring.
All sorts of vegetables, now that I cook 'em. Even spinach and collards

Like others, I'll eat almost anything that I'm not allergic to now, allergies which encompasses entire food groups.
My kids are pretty good; the house rule is you have to try it twice - once when I cook it, and again when someone else cooks it because they might cook better than me. Now they're grown and never stop eating everything.

Asparagus, Spinach, Artichoke, Sushi, Nori, Carrots, Peas, Cream Cheese...the list goes on and om my mom never cared what I ate or didn't. My hubby opened my eyes to the delicious world of Sushi!

Chinese food- wouldn't even touch the stuff my parents ordered, no matter how much they protested. They either had to find a Chinese restaurant that served American food or I would eat some Chinese ribs lol. I finally decided to try it when I was around 21 and loved it. Now I am sad I missed all those years of eating it.

Liver- hated the stuff! Now I love it.

Still hate Eggplant and Okra though.

I didn't think of this one. My mom and sister use to love to eat at a Chinese buffet near our house and we would always stop on the way to buy a burger for me because I would not eat it. Now I can't get enough Chinese food. I felt the same way when I realized what I had been missing all those years.

oddly enough:

Eggs and Chickens

In seventh grade we did a whole semester on parasites and microorganisms. Then I had a friend tell me eggs were (I am so sorry everyone) little chicken abortions. Sent me into a downhill spiral of vegetarianism.

I know it is not true, but the idea took a while to get over.
