What is hanging off the toe here that also cannot good

Also - since I'm having to keep her weight up already and it seems that gout treatments require a cut in protein - how am I supposed to do both here? (assuming that gout is what she has)

Update: The bottoms of her feet aren’t red.

I’ve tried feeling the bumps. They’re soft. Buffy doesn’t like it when I touch the one on her right foot, between the toes. Her weight hasn’t changed significantly.

What bump on the right foot between the toes are you trying to touch?
She's losing a lot of weight?
Have you had a fecal float to check for worms?
What do you normally feed including treats?

In chickens there are 2 types of gout articular and visceral gout.

1): See image.

2): For a few months now I’ve had to give her supplemental protein on and off in order for her to keep her weight up. She didn’t show any signs of fatigue or anything weird. Her weight is stable, but less than it should be. When she started molting I had to give her supplemental protein again - she managed to get off it a short while before that.

3): No.

4): I feed them Purina organic layer pellets, but I’ve added some starter feed of the same line after some of my hens lost weight during the molt. They also have granite grit and Oyster shell, free choice. I also have given her hard boiled eggs whenever her weight has been down. Lately I’ve been mixing those with oatmeal so she eats more. She hasn’t eaten much of that for the past five days. For a while when the others were more underweight I gave them unsalted peanut butter with oats (Buffy barely ate any of this). I haven’t done that in about a week.

Treats in general come only when I have things to give. It’s been a month since I’ve given any other treat besides the stuff I mentioned before.

5): I think I read that article beforehand. I was talking about articular gout.

One thing I just realized is that the swelling isn’t around joints, which is where the swelling for articular gout is supposed to be, correct?

My original question was that, if she has gout, and she already needs extra protein to keep her weight up, then how am I supposed to reduce the protein in her diet without causing her to lose more weight? Would I just ignore that step and do everything else? Ofc this depends on whether she has (articular) gout, which I’m not sure of.
