for a town which breed is best?

I really don't see why one should stray away from them except if they plan to have more than one rooster, plan to use them for meat, or . . . . I can't think of other reasons.

Maybe she just doesn't care for the look? They're not for everyone, certainly. I don't care for them, just for that reason. Hope they don't take it personal.

Most? Try all.

At least when it comes to American and Oriental Gamefowl, they're bred specifically to not turn on their owners. I honestly think people should research things before they jump the wagon.

Haiku - American Gamefowl look the same to me as a lot of hatchery birds, just with dubbed combs, and Orientals I can see others disliking, but you have to consider, Gamefowl come in a LOT of shapes and colors. Which do you particularly not care for?

For me, it's more about shape and proportion, both of which accentuated by tight plumage, than color. I am a fan of a good, solid dual purpose and decidedly fluffy bird. Orloffs are pretty much like a gamefowl in many ways, but they are FLUFFY! Gamefowl are also not notorious for their cold hardiness as far as I know, but really, that's beside the point.

Personal preference and aesthetic predispositions require no research.

There are chicken breeds out there for everyone, and while I admire gamefowl from afar, they are not for me.

However, I do agree that anyone that avoids them due to common temperament misconceptions might consider meeting some, if they otherwise like the look.

Well, if you don't want BR's (which I find shocking!) than seems that Orpingtons would be the best for you. If you want color variation, than just get a bunch of colors of em'.
