OK - to clarify 1 more time... I didn't say "sneak around" and I didn't say no boundaries. I guess I'm just a realist.

I guess that my definition of sneaking around is doing something purposely that you know that your parents would disapprove.

I am a pretty laid back parent but I do expect my children to follow the few rules that I give them. We can compromise on the rules if they are honest and talk to me but there will be h@ll to pay if I find out that they went behind my back. Not because I am angry but because the few rules that I give them are for their own protection.

Considering that I have a 16 year old that asked me if he could curse when he was with his friends, I think that my kids will come to me with most of their problems. I told him that it was his decision but that cursing made people seem ignorant. I also pointed out that movies rarely depict the 'smart' character as cursing. And I told him, people do avoid those who curse a lot and that cursing can become a habit. My rule is that he can't speak that way in our house and not in front of little children. Will he curse? I don't know. It is his choice but I have given him limits and explained the consequences of doing so.

Chances are your parenting and mine looks similar. I might even be a bit more lax then you. The difference is that I don't give my children freedom because I think that they would do what I forbid them to anyway. It is just part of my parenting style to allow my kids to make their own mistakes and to become as independent as possible.

11 year old children are just going through puberty and are probably experiencing sexual desire for the first time. Plus sex can temporarily appear to be loving for a lonely girl. So, parents need to supervise their preteens and early teens nearly as closely as they did when they were toddlers. I went through puberty early and I remember that rush of hormones was very disturbing and a bit overwhelming.

Well, my dad promised me that I could date when I was 16. Umm, lets just say that he hasn't approved the right guy yet because I'm not dating him.

Anyways, I've had middle school lovers/crushs, but still haven't had my first kiss and I'm proud of it. I dont want to be like most of the girls in the world and just kiss a guy just to do it. (Wanted to add that there is NOTHING wrong with kissing, I just haven't found a guy yet that I want to have my first kiss with)

This one guy, not naming his name, we've been hanging out for awhile and my dad likes him so we might go out. He just is debating whether or not to ask me out my bff said. He's very shy about that kind of stuff. Oh, I get to go to homecoming with him and I'm excited for that.

my 11 year old still plays with toys and thinks girls are gross.
i think (this is just MY opinion) that children seem more advanced, or older, or whatever because parents are just letting them watch whatever they want on tv, and not monitoring who they hang out with. my kids are the only kids out of their group of friends who arent allowed to watch south park, play the grand theft auto games, watch "twilight" etc etc and i am not a bit sorry for it. let them be kids because adulthood lasts for a very long, LONG time.
