If it gets locked, ok, but read this if you can. This is truly remarkable for a 15 year old to see the USA as we have made it. We should hang our heads in shame. Not pointing a finger at anyone, but this kid hits the nail on the head.

THIS IS AWESOME!!! BY A 15 yr. OLD SCHOOL KID Who got an A+ for this entry, Since the Pledge of Allegiance And The Lord's Prayer Are not allowed in most Public schools anymore Because the word 'God' is mentioned..... A kid in Arizona wrote the attached NEW School prayer: "New Pledge of Allegiance" ~~~ Now I sit me down in school Where praying is against the rule For this great nation under God Finds mention of Him very odd. If scripture now the class recites, It violates the Bill of Rights. And anytime my head I bow Becomes a Federal matter now. Our hair can be purple, orange or green, That's no offense; it's a freedom scene. The law is specific, the law is precise. Prayers spoken aloud are a serious vice. For praying in a public hall Might offend someone with no faith at all. In silence alone we must meditate, God's name is prohibited by the state. We're allowed to cuss and dress like freaks, And pierce our noses, tongues and cheeks. They've outlawed guns, but FIRST the Bible. To quote the Good Book makes me liable. We can elect a pregnant Senior Queen, And the 'unwed daddy,' our Senior King. It's 'inappropriate' to teach right from wrong, We're taught that such 'judgments' do not belong. We can get our condoms and birth controls, Study witchcraft, vampires and totem poles. But the Ten Commandments are not allowed, No word of God must reach this crowd. It's scary here I must confess, When chaos reigns the school's a mess. So, Lord, this silent plea I make: Should I be shot; My soul please take! Amen. ~ If you aren't ashamed to do this, Please pass this on. Jesus said, 'If you are ashamed of me, I will be ashamed of you before my Father.

Amen! and thank you for posting it

I have nothing against freedom of religion, but for me that means ALL religion. We are such an ecclectic society today, and I think people should be able to practice whatever they wish without scrutiny, so long as they are not harming anyone in the process.

I must say that was a pretty witty poem though. I wonder if it was actually written by a 15 year old.

I think that's the point this poem is trying to make: ALL religions. But Christianity is being excluded from "ALL religions." Christians are not harming anyone when they pray. Christians should be allowed the same freedom as everyone else, no matter what the others are practicing.

Very well written poem. I love the kid already for standing up for what he/she believes is right.

Yes I agree!

There is only 1 thing I hate about these kind of posts:

The Pledge and Prayer are both alive and well in America's schools. The only difference?? The teacher doesn't stand up every day as she did in my Grandmother's day and begin the school day by reading a chapter of the Old Testament.

All of our local schools begin every day with the Pledge, either led over the intercom or room by room. Kids are free to pray, read their Bibles, what have you as long as they aren't disturbing class time. They aren't allowed to evangelize during school hours, but there are plenty of after-school Christian-based clubs.

Even in her day, there was plenty of controversy about that because *GASP* one time the teacher wasn't a Baptist

You know why Christianity won't be banned in America? Because the ACLU won't let it happen.
