) my brahma roo was in the shade under a tree dustbathing. Normally I chase the chickens back in when they are out of their yard but it was so hot I wanted him to be cool

. It got so hot that I had to turn the chicks brooder lamp off for fear we'd have roasted chicken for dinner.

i was gonna go camping there this summer! i had everything set for me to go but i had to cancel at the last min cuz my brother is getting married next month..lol

yea i cut all my brooder lamps off when it's hot and if it's very humid at night i switch lights to one thats not as warm

I eventually get used to the high heat. It's the humidity that kills me. It just get's hard to go out and do the yard work and such. We've had such high temps. and yesterday we had my son's HS graduation. I was sweating like a pig and the boys are required to wear a tuxedo vs. a cap and gown, I felt so bad for them.

As for the chickens the freak out when I spray or even mist them. So I just soak up the run and make mud, they love the mud

BirdBoy88- this is the first time(heat wise) that it has happened in the 7 years we have been in the house. I am hoping and praying that it is just the electric company working out some "kinks" and that it doesnt happen tomorrow since it is supposed to reach 100.

I lived in NC for 3 years. when I moved home the heat/humidity here was nothing. I have been home in NE for 14 years now and die when it gets like this. My poor horse was dripping sweat this afternoon. Plenty of water though and he does have shade. So hopefully he will be ok. Dog and cats havent moved much today. Neither have the rabbits

Yeah, so it 90 outside in NY this weekdend, my 3 week olds are on the front porch and its like a 100, even with the 3 fans on them. The turkeys I just let have the run of the porch they were so hot, the just sat in front of the fan. And people keep trying to tell me they are stupid, Not MY Turkeys! anyhow, baby shower yesterday I felt bad and fenced in a 10 by 5 sections, threw a 5 foot wide piece of tin over it and their dog crate. All of a sudden, in the middle of the presents, severe thunderstorms! I am panicking, call my husband, he goes home to find 20 drenched, soaking wet babies who didn't go in the crate or under the tin. Ok, so maybe not so smart

He tells me he thinks I am going to lose 2 because they are shivering so hard. Heck with baby shower, chickies much more important, so I leave and blow dry each one and put like 5 inches of fresh shavings and lots of treats. Luckily they all made it although very tired from there ordeal. So maybe I b**tched a little about how I needed a new coop. Or a lot. Either way, got home from work today and there is a new coop in my yard! Yeah for DH!

Night everyone

Isn't it funny, in the winter I get cold and turn the heat up sometimes to 75 or 80 to get warm and in the summer I want the A/C on and 60. I just can't win.

Right now I'd like to be in a freezer.
