Thanks. I really did feel like we had done the best we could for them. The whole "ownership" thing is quite interesting, as I've wondered the same thing. If we "own" strays that we feed, certainly it wouldn't be better to just let them starve. Really, I don't care if I "own" them or not. Or what the shelter ppl think of me (I understand they get liars all the time). There was just such harshness expressed toward those who surrender animals, I wondered if there was something better I should have done. I didn't think of a rescue for them, but I prolly could have found at least a pit rescue for Isabel. I will keep that in mind for future reference. I've not found a dump dog for quite some time though. There was, last year a mama hound and her babies, but I *think* they may have belonged to the farm next to the dump. Every time I tried to get near them, they ran through the fence into the pasture (there is cow pasture on either side of the dump).
