Hi Peeps - your question brought back memories. I played and beat the original Legend of Zelda game - way back in 1989 or so. I had three young children at the time and was working full time and taking a full college schedule at nights, weekends and sunrise classes. We had originally gotten the Zelda game for the kids but I found it was one I could actually play and save my settings. I would play late late at night in between taking breaks from studying and writing term papers. Occasionally I would play when the kids could watch me but mostly it was a late night escape. I got little or no sleep during those years so Zelda was a way of staying sane. The kids knew they were not to use my "man" if they played the game but one day the baby sitter did and lost all of my treasures and weapons and erased everything I had taken months to acquire so I had to start all over. The day I beat the game I called all the kids into the room to watch me fight the final fight (sorry don't remember the names of things/creatures/characters) and rescue the princess. They all cheered. To this day they talk about it and though they are now in their late 20s they still say that their mom is the only person they know that ever beat that game. I've never played another video game before or since.

WOW!! Yeah when I was younger than 7 my mom use to play it and she would win them. But when I was seven my mom died and when this new Zelda game came out (forever years later) I just had to get it. I just wish that she could have been here to see me win this game all by myself. My Dad played some but now he just sits in the background and watches.

Hi Coty Jo - I'm so sorry you lost your mom when you were 7. I lost my dad when I was 13 and my brothers were 10 and 8. I know how much it hurts. You will always have times when you wish they were there to see you but just remember that they are. Their love and their spirits will always be with you and you will see them again in heaven.

Yeah I know what you mean Ruth. People ask me all the time about her and I don't mind telling people about it. My mom took her life and after that I decided that why be depressed about something. Anyways, Zelda just kinda brings me back to those days.
