For those of you that know me

Hi Sara........... now try to stop worrying.. your hand will improve with time... Rome was not built in a day, nor is recovery from a stroke.. take it one day at a time.. thats an order from old EC....

Try to get to your appointment if you can.... if you can't get there, look up as much information as you can on recovering from a stroke and try to do the exercises at home. Above all keep strong both mentally and physically... you will get there Sara... trust me...

to you ......

Sara, as someone who's been through it - you CAN recover.
my entire right side was paralysed, but now it's fine.
it just takes time.
be stubborn.

get some playdoh or something and try to roll a sausage with your affected hand. it's frustrating and mine got thrown across the room a few times, but eventually you'll do it. then you start getting frustrated trying to roll it into balls.

my worst thing was trying to butter my toast using just one hand! my hair was left down too, just couldn't put it up. oh and I had to do my bra up before putting it on!

my neurologist told me the reason a lot of people don't recover is because they give up... so don't you give up.

Thanks so much for the info. My hair is almost down to my butt so thats something I can not do by myself. It makes you feel so helpless. I tried to cook dinner by myself last night but of course it didn't happen. There are just so many things that you can't do by yourself with just one arm working. I feel like a child again. I'm not gonna give up, with over 200 hundred animals I don't have a choice.

The playdoh is a great idea!.. also Sara try and buy yourself a "stress ball" .. they are small enough for the hand and very much like playdoh.. soft and squishy....but still quite firm..... you can do it kiddo xxxxx
