For those who keep ducks and chickens together...what do you feed them?

Hello friends!

My ducklings are growing up so quickly. I know that pretty soon they will be ready to be out in the real world (our yard) and living with our chickens. For those of you who have both ducks and chickens, what do you feed them? Thanks so much!

The thing I have heard about is to not feed ducks layer feed till they are laying eggs, or of that age. I was told it can have negative effects on their health.

I have ducks and chickens. I feed Purina all flock with oyster shells on the side when I don't want some of the birds eating layer feed. I use layer pellets when my whole flock is mature birds, but all flock could be used all the time.

I have ducks and chickens housed together and the chickens and ducks are fairly young only 2 chickens out of 10 are laying, and the ducks are 2 months old. I feed them Purina starter feed *non-medicated, they also free range in my yard.

I heard this too so I'm trying to figure out how to manage this. I'd like to just have one feed for both since having two and making sure that only the ducks are eating one and the chickens the other sounds impossible. My chickens are a year old and they are eating a layer feed right now. My ducklings are only a month old. I plan on housing them both together in about 5 weeks so the ducklings won't be old enough to lay yet. How have people troubleshooted this before?

I don't have chickens, but my guess would be to use an all flock feed and have oyster shells for the laying chickens. The ducks won't eat the oyster shells till they are of laying age. They may try them, but won't eat much. I have had a hard time to get my ducks to start eating the oyster shells.

I have the All flock pellets country road from rural king and then have a separate bowl with oyster shells that the drakes don’t seem to pick at
