Hi there:

Is the recommended humidity the same for forced and still air incubators?

And where should the temperature be measured in a forced air unit?

I know in the still air you should measure at the top of the eggs.

Thanks for your help (especially if you've answered this one before).

Great question! I'm using a forced air LG and wondering where to place thermometers.

Thermometer placement is not a big deal in incubators with a fan but somewhere close to the middle around the eggs is good.

Humidity is about the same with or without a fan.

I am a newbie with a used lg with a fan and turner. I put a thermometer on each side under the viewing window on the egg turner. My hydrometer sits above my thermometer on the right side. I have found that the temp on the right side is a little lower than on the left side. I am on day 14 of silkie eggs, first hatch ever. I have 4 eggs and candled them tonight. They are right on target so I must be doing something right! Only 4 more days till lockdown. My temp on the right side is just under 100 and the left just over 100. My humidity runs between 35 and 40 percent.

99.5 to be exact. I can't seem to stay there, though. I'm also using an LG and my temp has fluctuated a degree to two.

since i moved it to a room

Good morning, Latebloomer!
Yes, my bator is in my office in a corner away from windows and seems to be doing well there. I got up this morning though and my temp was a little high and humidity had dropped quite a bit. Seems both of my water channels had dried up in the night. I'm going to have to check those before I go to bed everynight now. Since I've added water it has stabilized. I can't believe I'm only on Day 3. It seems like an eternity!!!
