Foster Parenting

That IS cool!!! None of my adopted children are biologically related but we got a call a year ago that one of my kids' birth mothers had just had another baby she was going to give up and did we want her? I'm 50, youngest kids were then 5 and I just couldn't see how it would be fair to the little one, and we have no extra money for another one in diapers, etc, etc, so I said no. I still sort of regret the decision even though I know it was the right one.

That happened here recently too. Another foster family had adopted four siblings... mother had baby #5 a couple years later. The adoptive family now has that one also and are waiting for the day they go to court to adopt him.

Hello, I was a foster parent for 9 years( had over 200 children). we adopted, she is 21 yrs old now, we finally got some good genes in the family...shes tall thin and blood! LOL I am the Manager of a treatment foster care agency KidsPeace New England, we are in many states, great agency for any of you thinking about fostering. Very rewarding. I am on the board of directors for Adoptive and Foster Families of Maine we also assist Kinship care providers. Having Chickens and my inability to stop myself from getting more is much like when I was a foster parent. Consider giving a child a home, there is a great need.

Boyd that bus is sooo cool. I'll bet they would love it. Tehe! Thanks for the great information. You put my mind at ease!

Hey Farmerlor, thank you so much for the the details. We are thinking about adopting two girls, `11 and 15. They both have had the parent rights terminated a long time ago. Which is a shame. The 11 year old says desperately wants to be adopted. I don't blame her and I hope everything goes well.

We had a home study, background check and two interviews done about 8 months ago, is that still good?

Hello, for 2 TPRed teens their case workers should be moving a bit quicker on this. I would contact their Gaurdian at Litem and find out whats going on with their permanency. All children deserve permanency. How lucky for them and you to have found each other.

I've been thinking about doing foster care for kids over ten, once my daughter heads to college. But so many people have said that these kids have so many problems it is too hard and dangerous. I think they may be misinformed.

Have you had much in the way of really difficult problems? I really want to do this and I would trust the input of other parents who have done this.

Lil
