Found 9 mistakes on metzer farms website

I found a mistake last week and got a $20 gift certificate. Yesterday I found 4 more mistakes. Lets see how much they send this time. The site says $20 per mistake, lets hope they honor it.

Congrats. You must trawl their site every day for mistakes. I wish I was so Lucky to find any. If I was, I would be saving my $20's to get some geese next year.
Silly Q.....I wonder if they put some mistakes in every day or so to see if people will notice. Thats 1 way to get some business I supose.

No, I wasn't looking for mistakes at all. I just like some of their information and kept on reading. They have some really cool information on their site. Never mind that English is not my native language, and really I'm not that good at writing etc. Editor, mmmmm a very funny thought.

Even in German I'm not good at writing. I have always been a good speller in German, so maybe that is what makes me find things. I better stay away from my website. Who knows how many errors are there. You never see your own typos anyway. I'm just happy for the gift certificates, because I plan on buying birds from them next year. Now more coupons means more birds. Hubby is looking hard and heavy at the turkeys now.

I will be getting Embden geese next year. Has to be a German breed, because I'm German.

No certificates for errors, but still lots of nice German things. It's my husband and myself running the site. We are so small, we do not even have employees. The exception are out 4 dogs that like to work. Laying in the way and make us trip over them is their main role.

Not a rich live, plus the economy is so weak that we are feeling it. I guess that applies to all of us, so I appreciate all the coupons Metzer gives me. Right now should be our busy season, yet it is not. So I will be outside building a covered 3 sided wind break for our ducks using scrap wood. I need it for winter to offer them a warm shelter and to have food in it for their outdoor time. At night they sleep in the duck house, but I need something to protect them from wind and snow.

Ok, I've read the entire site of www.metzerfarms.com and found a total of 9 errors. Happy days for next spring.
BTW John Metzer seems to be very nice. Not sure, if he still likes me.

Katharinad, I respect your diligence at perusing Metzers website. I imagine that John set this up to give away $20 at a time. He is such a good resource, it seems a bit.... what, taking advantage, in my eyes. I cannot imagine they make boatloads of money, which may be beside the point. All I am saying is, John is such a nice guy, maybe you might reconsider trying to get $180 out of him... Of course it is up to you, and I have seen you post ?s for John on his website, so at least you have some previous interaction. Might be a good way to engender trust and helpful leanings to let him off the hook a bit. Then again, he made the offer. Tough one.. Good luck.

I reported the mistakes as I found them, and did not ask for money. I was so excited with the first one, and was happy to get a 20 certificate. Then I reported 5 more and thought I would be fine with me if I get 20 more (I was hoping for a little bit more). He wrote to me yesterday that he send another 100 certificate out. WOW, I like his integrity. I send him the last 3 errors I've found yesterday and don't expect any compensation for it at all. Really I don't need that much money for the few geese I want to get next spring. BTW I was not error hunting and it took me an entire week to read the site. I figured that all the errors had already been found by other BYC members. I reallydid. There is tons of good stuff on his site, that is what got me going, and I told him so. What I mean you can read things there you will not find in any book. That's how good it is. He is very friendly and does answer emails. This shows that he cares, and I can only recommend a business where the owner does care. Metzer Farms is not that small, but it did start small. They also do supply the industry and not just the hobby farmer. What he sent are certificates and not cash so it does not hurt him at this point. (I hope he is not to upset about me finding that many error.) Plus see how much he offers for pictures of his catalog at travel destinations. It is up to me to use these coupons on purchases and I doubt that they will be eligible for shipping cost. Just products and then they are only half the product value, because they are applied to retail value and the product costs less to produce. So in that sense I don't feel that guilty, and if I don't find the errors someone else will eventually. BTW I plan on sending him a thank you gift for his generosity. I'm not a greedy person after all. I also pass on some of my luck and will be donating some of these birds to the H4 program. Klamath county is very poor and the H4 kids make money by raising birds and auctioning them off at the Klamath County Fair. I tell you people are so poor they even steal animals for food. Last year they stole the 2 turkeys of two 4H sisters and the girls were crying, because the birds were supposed to raise money for them to buy school supplies and clothing. It made the local paper and a farmer was nice enough to donate more birds for them.
