Found A Baby Duck Need Help

120 V Bulb (don't see Watts anywhere the only writing on the bulb is 'made in China' and '120V'). I put a cloth over half the box, in case he needs shade. It keeps attempting to jump out though.

It is finally taking sips of water after falling in a bunch of times trying to get out, which is a relief, dehydration kills faster than hunger. (The pebbles are there because I read somewhere that they can drown trying to drink water?)

I found a mother duck with a bunch of ducklings and tried mixing in the captive baby duck. Unfortunately, she wasn't the mother and she wouldn't accept the other baby. Her babies were more mature than mine and they all started pecking at him. I had to remove him and put him back in the box. :(

I also called the Wildlife center, unfortunately they told me they couldn't pick him up. I have no vehicle and the wildlife center is much to far from where I'm located, taking a cab would be too expensive and no one I know would drive me there for a duck.
:(

GOOD NEWS :D :)

I found mom duck with a bunch of ducklings his age that finally accepted him. I stood there for a while making sure the mom or her siblings didn't peck him. Mom let him roost with the pack and eat together. I don't think she even noticed when he mixed in. (Maybe she's the real mom.)

He looked kind of dumbfounded though. I hope he makes it through. :( I'm just glad he has a mother again. :')

That's great news!

Yeah!
I live near a pond and some rivers, I keep an eye out for baby ducks, and some times neighbors will give me baby ducks or birds, I had one neighbor who told me she found a baby duck and they put it in the bathtub, but it died, (they didn't have water in tub) I said what did you feed it? did it have a heat lamp? and they just shrugged. Grrr!

I'm no bird expert or have the right equipment or environment to raise one in. (Even if I did, it just doesn't sit right with me to separate a baby from its mother or keep it from roaming free and living out its natural life. However long or short it maybe.)

I felt that the longer it stayed with me the more likely it would die from stress/other and I'd hate for that to be the way it ended for him, so I kept walking around desperately hoping to see a mother with ducklings his age. (Most of the ones I spotted had older ones or would peck at him.) It wasn't 'till the sun was almost down that I finally saw one with chicks his age that accepted him.

So glad for him :) Hope he doesn't get seperated again and pulls through.
