Found a Baby Squirrel -thinks it's a kitten! Updated pics:)

Thank you. I think he is a cute little guy. (He is a boy.. I checked lol). My dd named him Chewy. He is in a quiet back bedroom so he won't get too used to humans. I wasn't planning on handling him too much but then I found out he had a lesion that kept getting bigger. I learned on a squirrel forum that he had what's called a squirrel botfly infection. This is when a certain type of fly lays eggs on tree branches during the rainy season and the eggs get on the squirrels and the larvae (maggot) burrows into the squirrel. It was really gross and I had no clue what was wrong with him lol. I learned how to get it out and finally did (oh boy I didn't ever think raising a baby squirrel would involve something like removing botflies- ICK!!) Gosh talk about 'Monsters Inside Me!! I took some pics of it if (the botfly) anyone wants to see those lol. The poor little guy came through it like a champ. His wound is way better now and I can tell he feels better.
I also took some pics of him nursing the momma cat that I will put up tomorrow as soon as I get a chance.

Chickenzoo I am in the NW Jax area. I would love to see some pics of your little squirrel baby. I bet it is a lot of work feeding him yourself. I handfed some of our parrots over the years all I can say is I am sooo glad chickens can eat on thier own from day one lol. Is this the first squirrel you have rehabbed?

I have been wondering if I should give our little Chewy any supplemental formula feedings. He seems to be okay on the kitty milk. He is getting to where he crawls around and trying to play a little. The kittens have thier eyes open and are starting to bat at things. The momma cat has moved her kittens twice already and she took the little squirrel before she took some of her own kittens. She seems to be very gentle with him. I do worry a little about her accidently scratching him but she hasn't so far. I will feel better when his fur gets thicker.
Chewy has his bottom teeth already. I read we are supposed to give them monkey biscuits and squirrel blocks when they are old enough to start weaning.

Yep, my first squirrel...... hehe. I went out one morning a few weeks ago and found what I thought was a dead rat laying on the floor, with Mrs. Kitty looking awful proud of herself. I went to grab the tail to give it a pitch and was startled that it was still very much alive and that it was not a rat but a squirrel! Showed hubby - who was not on board right away about going to Wal to get kitty milk for a little rat squirrel, but now he is growing on him.... I'll get pics.

Um...Momma Kitty will be ready to wean him before he is ready to wean due to TEETH...very sharp little pointy razor blades! You can feed him puppy formula from a regular baby bottle when he gets to that stage. Buy extra nipples, they don't last but about 3 days. He looks to be about the age my boy Twitter was when he was found. We released him in the back yard, and he has done well for his little squirrely self. If we call him, the ungrateful little brat throws nuts down at us and barks now

He's a busy boy now...with a wife and kids.

Here are some newer pics

Some are the squirrel nursing the momma cat and some are of him just sleeping with the other kittens and the momma. Last night I heard a lot of commotion coming from my son's bedroom where the kittens are and we went in there and turned on the light and the little squirrel and the kittens were all tumbling around playing together lol. The squirrel would jump on top of the kittens and bite them and then run and the kittens would chase after him. It was really funny and cute. I can already tell it is gonna be a circus around here in a week or two.
