Found a Baby Squirrel -thinks it's a kitten! Updated pics:)

Thank you so much for helping Chewy. He is a cute little bugger. The pics. of Momma Cat, kittens and Chewy are so sweet. Good luck to Chewy.

He sure is a cutie. I had to raise 8 baby rabbits when we disturbed a nest while landscaping. Up every two hours feeding with an eye dropper! Was able to release after about 3-4 weeks. Just a word of caution though. Don't get too attached to him. My sister found a baby squirrel and raised it. Because of her attachment and what seemed to be a friendly squirrel, she just kept it. She had it in a cage most of the time but also let it out to roam the house. It acted like the rest of the house pets. One evening it went berserk, bit my brother-in-laws leg, and just about bit my sisters finger off. The "wild" instinct took over and the little stinker wanted OUT! So........ don't keep him too long!

Thanks for the updated pictures!

I hope he never does.

Really...I wish you all the best luck with this guy and I hope he continues to do well. You are still planning on releasing him right flgarden?

I love raising baby squirrels! They are so much fun. I have always fed them whole milk and they do great on that. I haven't ever had any problems releasing them. I take them outside when they are around 3 months old and let play. If they come back to me, they are not ready. If they go up the tree and do not come back, it's time to let them go. I always dreaded the day they decided to stay in the tree.

Good luck, he's a cutie!!!

So adorable!! Great job too. I have never raised a squirrel but 15 years ago my then husband brought home 3 baby chipmunks he found in a ladys air cleaner on her car!

I am definitely going to release him when he is ready. I already have a zoo here as it is lol. I don't think he would be happy living in a cage or without any squirrel friends. I want him to be happy, wild and free someday. I have heard that too about the squirrels still having wild instincts and going psycho biting someone.

maggiemooscluckers: I bet baby rabbits were fun!! Every two hours with that many babies had to be tough...you were probably just finishing up with the last one by the time it was time to start again lol.

the chickenchick: Awww the little chipmunks sound cute. So sweet of your dh to bring them home to you where they would be safe.
My dh wasn't exactly thrilled when I brought the baby squirrel in but he likes it now. He likes most animals except snakes. Yesterday, we found a huge snake in one of the chickens' nest boxes with two egg bumps in him where he swallowed a few eggs. Dh wanted to kill the snake but I talked him into just moving it. I am suprised he did it lol. I bet he probably would of killed it if I wasn't around though because he is petrified of them .
