Found a chicken on road - Help!

We went back to the tree where she was roosting, and just about managed to get her! She kept going back to it, but after a couple of attempts, we've decided to go back tomorrow after we're sure she is totally asleep. In the mean time, it doesn't seem she is going anywhere. Once we've (hopefully) got her, we'll probably try and see if one of our friends that owns chickens can take her, if no one claims her. Thank you for the help everyone!

Can you afford to bring her a little chicken feed and some water, perhaps in the morning? She might like you better in the afternoon if she sees you as a source of food. Thanks for trying to save her.

agree with Valerie. The way to a chickens' heart is through it's stomach. For lack of anything better, it will probably like small pieces of bread.

if you do catch her, don't take her directly to your friends house they might need to set up a separate coop for her. If she's sick they won't want it spread to their birds.

Going before sun up would be best. After it's absolutely dark out she's not going to go anywhere. Chickens can't see in the dark and are very reluctant to move around.

Yes, please understand new birds have to be quarantined from an existing flock so do check with your friend first.

I would capture it. Try luring with treats instead of chasing. Give it time. Then you can try doorknocking or facebook to find the owners. If you can't keep it, try your social network or someone on this forum might live near you and be able to home it. Failing those options, you should be able place it with an animal shelter.
