Found a Kitten*Cute Pics Added*

I have a 6 week old right now, I change what I said. He/she looks more like 4-5 weeks. It's hard to tell with pictures. This coming from someone with 10 cats and LOTS of experience with kittens!!!

It should be nibbling on food now. Try some wet kitten food. The kitten looks VERY healthy so that's a really great thing. Good Luck!

I guess around 5 weeks too. I used to have a cat that i got at that age. If the kitten isnt already weaned it should be off the bottle within a week. Just make sure you got nice soft kitten food and fresh water or milk replacer.

So does that mean it can potty on his own (and it is a he). Oh and should I use some DE to de worm?

He should be able to potty on his own at 5 weeks. Just get some wet food, dry food will stop him up and make it harder for him to poop. (Yeah I said poop

)

If you keep him, get him neutered. There are way to many unwanted animals out there....sigh

Edited: DE is fine mixed in with his wet food. Totally natural and safe for him. That's all I use for my cats.

If we are right on the age then yes, it should be able to potty on its own. You'll want to put it in the litter box and just watch to make sure.

Another thing about using the litterbox. Momma cat teaches her babies to cover up their waste to keep predators from finding them easier, that's why cats cover their waste in the litterbox. If momma isn't around to teach this then baby doesn't know to do this. If he uses the box and doesn't cover it up you can cover it up in front of him so he knows that's what he's supposed to do. You have to be able to do it right after he gets out of the box and is there to see you. I know it sounds strange up I've had to do this and the kitten followed my example and started covering it up. If nothing else, it helps with the smell.

I have another cat, a female about a year old, will him seeing her make him cover it up?

Possibly. Cat's are smarter than people think. I think he'll do fine and he has a great home being with you. Someone was watching out for that lil guy. He's blessed.

How long should I wait for him to poo before I worry? He peed just a little in the little box just a bit ago, but hasn't pooed in about 5 hours.
