Found this large feather in my field the other day...close enough to my chicken run that it's important to know what it came from, I think. I'm in Michigan, and we do have wild turkey and hawk...owls...pheasant...I'm sure it's too big for a pheasant and doesn't seem the right color for a turkey, so it must be a hawk, but I'd like to confirm - it's almost 9 1/2" long and about 2 1/2" wide:

Uh-oh. Hope he lost his feather because he got SCARED or something and went to find easier pickin's!

TURKEY VULTURE? What the heck - I didn't know we had them around here! You got somethin' stinky in your field, Laura? JK!

Seriously, though, what do they look like? I'm going to go Google them.

We have turkey vultures up here in MN too... ppl associate them with the desert, but they do pretty nicely on all the dead deer in the ditches around here!!!! So gross I might add, if my car wasnt so nice I would swerve to hit the buggers!

Awe....I just saw a pic of one online...I feel sorry for them! Surely someone must think they're pretty! There are folks who think NNs are pretty....
