Found a pigeon and I need help.

His leg is just a little swollen above the toes. He’s able to move his wing, but I think it’s possible that he has a slipped tendon.

Once he's settled in eating and drinking I'd suggest examining the suspected injured wing. I would gently extend the wing fully and try to discern any obvious broken bones or pain. I took my bird to the vet and that's basically all they can do without going to x-rays. Cost of x-rays, sadly, is not covered under the health plan I'm able to provide for my flock. Since nothing was found I just took her home and let her recover on her own. I didn't use a splint. Ideally he can be housed in a pen or cage large enough for him to extend and flap his wings as he recovers. I think I would just keep an eye on the leg swelling.

What health plan do you have that covers your flock? My dad bought wild bird seed last night and I gave Fred some this morning and he went right for it.

Oh sorry! I was joking about the 'health plans' and only meant that I can't afford that with a flock of 20. As I re-read my post I see that was not clear, especially since health ins isnow sold for pets.
Fred landed in good hands. :thumbsup

Lol. I can’t afford vet visits either. I paid about $800 once to have a cyst removed from my guinea pig.

I made a perch for Fred for when I bring him inside.

IKR! I had a kitty get around a thousand in vet care once, he lived another 10yrs to age 22.

Great idea! That will confine the poop to where it can be easily handled. Did he get up there by himself?
Given a choice, pigeons prefer to roost with the feet flat and not having to grip a parrot type perch.

The branch he is on now can work but the other 2 are a bit narrow for pigeon comfort. Any scrap lumber 2 to 4 in wide is perfect for making perches.

I put him on the perch. That’s interesting that you mention he’d prefer scrap lumber. I’ll have tI modify the perch. I was watching him try to get into the henhouse where he sleeps and he couldn’t jump up the 1.5 foot distance.

Awwww poor guy. If you just lay a scrap of 2x4 on the floor of his cage, I bet he will step up and roost on it at night.
