Found a puppy! Help me with the breed!

yes a breeder would use something to mark the puppies. However, no one with any sense would ever use a shoestring tied on the dog. That would be a strangulation hazard. They use rickrack or other things that easily come off the pup if caught on anything.

He does look like a catahoula. Doesn't mean that he is or isn't purebred. There will never be a way to know 100% since you don't know who the parents are. Definitely a cutie though!!

the shoestring tied around the neck sounds more like something a child would do as a homemade "collar"

It being a "homemade collar" from a child would make more sense. But also seeing some of the things that pet owners that come into our clinic do, it wouldn't surprise me if the shoe string was used as an identification method.

The other day we had a guy bring his dogs in with the plastic bead necklaces wrapped super tight around their necks. They were long haired dogs and their hair was tangling around them, you wouldn't even know the beads were there unless you were examining the dog. I took them off and gave them to him when I brought his dogs back into the room, explained that I wasn't sure if he knew they were there, maybe his kids did it... He was very upset that I took it off, said it was for breast cancer awareness week (the beads were pink).

Breeders I'm sure would have enough sense not to put their pups in danger, but at the same time there's a lot of backyard breeders around here that really don't care for their animals properly. A lot of people who really have absolutely no sense in their heads at all.

He's hilarious, and i'm really excited about him being so young. I'm able to start training early.

Congratulations!
The last five of my rescues were full blooded something or other.
People purchase dogs and I suppose expect them to be like furniture. Then when they act like animals and chew on the furniture they get dumped.
Our place is on the way to the county pound. So we get the droppings.

There are so many people out there who just do not comprehend how much effort goes into rearing dogs, horses, (and kids) before they go get them. It is a job; A full time job. It is messy, dirty, exhausting, Time consuming, expensive, they ruin your stuff...and it is so very rewarding

That is one lucky puppy. I think he found the home he deserves! Best of luck with him!
