found baby bird by run. what do i do?

mmaddie's mom :

canned cat or dog food would work also... not as sure about dried? Soft scrambled egg also would work.

Yeah..not sure about dried either...
maybe if she soaks it to mush though??

If you have the time, consider raising it yourself... it's pretty funny seeing a robin standing up to a rooster for a piece of fruit or worm

i'd reccomend finding a wildlife rehabilitator ASAP. baby birds are fragile creatures and those without experience can kill them despite good intentions. look around for the nest. the mother will accept it even with your human scent on it because BIRDS CAN'T SMELL VERY WELL!!!!! vultures are the exception to the rule as they smell rotting carrion quite well actually. many people do not know that. if you can, the best thing is to leave the baby alone. if it has any feathers at all it may be attempting to fly for the first time. put it back where you found it, but keep an eye on it. if by nightfall no parent bird has arrived to help it, you can bring it inside for the night and find a professional to help you the next day! good luck!

I'm so glad he's still alive!! I agree with finding a wildlife rehabilitator in your area. I used to volunteer at a wildlife rescue and birds really are very fragile and require constant feeding if they are going to thrive.

Best of luck, it was so nice of you to take him in
