Found Chicken very lethargic this morning

When you say blue spot, do you mean the comb is blue in an area or it has a spot on it similar to this?
400

This is fowl pox and I've had one with it before, though the spots weren't quite as raised. Respitory distress is a symptom.

This is a page about treatment. https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/avian-pox-how-to-treat-your-chickens-for-avian-pox

A great bunch of good humoured, helpful, fun to be around chickeneers hang out there.

Plus, the added bonus of being in the same time zone if help is needed.

gilcamp4 I am sorry to read of your losses but good to know that you now know the cause and can start treatment. I hope all is well soon.

I am going to get a wormer tomorrow, any recommendations?
I had a look at Betty and she does have spikey pins, definitely not easy to find. So if that's the case causing her lethargy how long would this last? I'll make sure to give her some high protein foods tomorrow. I'll keep her inside and warm until she's acting somewhat normal again. She's been getting lots of cuddles all day :)

I did Google their lifespan before, she'd be nearly 3 years now. I'm not sure if it's the end for her, I'm still hopeful. She is a great chook, such an interesting personality.

In regards to the egg yolk peritonitis, my ex battery hen came down with that and was euthanised , there is no way of preventing it or curing it i believe?

Thank you to all for your help though!

My last isa brown died at 8 years of age and she was a rescue hen. I've never heard of hens showing symptoms of lethargy or I'll thrift as a result of pin feather re growth. Sorry that just sounds like an old wives tale.
In regards to wormer , levamisole will cover several types of worms and piperazine will only do round worm.
The other possibility would be egg binding. Hybrid birds are specifically designed to be ' egg machines ' and unfortunately often succumb to egg binding.
What does her poop look like ? Have you examined her abdomen for lumpy masses ?

I need help with my chickens i was told they have egg yolk peritonitis and round worm infestation, how do i treat them and do you know what it comes from. i have lost 3 chickens and looks like another one is dieing today, help please,

I would first worm with wazine and then 10 days later worm again using safegard . The wazine will kill the adult roundworm and the follow treatment with safeguard will take care of hatching eggs and most other species of parasites living in the birds.
If you are having reoccurring issues with egg peritonitis I would take a good look at calcium levels in the feed .
Here's a poop chart. It is important to have a worming regime in place as worms do kill.

Use valbazen if abailable for worming, otherwise safeguard is good too.

Valbazen is only available in Australia in 5 litre bottles for sheep. I've been down that line of enquiry and even with 20 head of goats , it's not cost effective.
Safeguard is labelled ' panacur ' here and can be purchased in 1-5 litre bottles, it isn't labelled for chickens but I use it as a rotational wormer.
Levamisole products are far more ' user friendlier ' and are generally just added to the water.

yes the lab told me to use wazine today, i have to do it for 3 days then wait 3 weeks and redo it again, then do it every 6mths. since we are a chicken farm state we have a lab to teach teens how to work with chickens from egg to death, they do lab work free to let you know what is wrong. which is great. the only thing is they do put the chicken down to see just what is wrong.

I checked yesterday and couldn't feel any lumpy masses. Her poo this morning was much runnier then it was yesterday. On another note, she has perked up a lot from yesterday. She was able to sit up and eat herself, she's trying to walk a bit but still a little unsteady but no where near as shaky as yesterday.

Betty has perked up a lot more this morning. She was able to sit up and eat herself. She is definitely not as wobbly as she was yesterday. She tried to walk around a bit this morning, still a little weak though. Her poo however was a little runnier then yesterday.

Thank you all for your help, i'll keep you all posted.

Unfortunately necropsy is the only way to be certain. Wazine only treats round worm. You are fortunate to have such training facilities at your disposal. Personally I would worm with wazine then use the safeguard 3 consecutive days . The danger is that if there is an overload and the wormer is too harsh that it will eliminate all of the parasites at once , they will in turn clog the birds system and that is often fatal. The whole theory of worming 10 days in between is , that is the time frame for any eggs that you miss with the initial worming to hatch.
