Found duck eggs!!

the air cell is on top in these pics, outlined with a sharpie to monitor growth. it's common for them to become detached with shipped eggs, but not likely for eggs that have not travelled. Vertical positioning is fine also, so you haven't done anything wrong. I incubate everything vertically, with the exception of Call duck eggs.
top pic is a chicken egg, probably around day 14ish, 2nd pic is also chicken, probably day 7.

I see what you mean about the fingerprints one the one egg. I understand duck eggs are often dirtier than chicken eggs? You seem to have things under control so try not to worry too much:hugs I wouldn't toss any or make any decisions about non-viability just yet unless one stinks. Your candling pics show good spider vein development and I understand with ducklings you can really see some fun stuff later, like tiny web feet:love.

I made a homemade incubator just like yours when I got into chicken hatching, I wouldn't count any dead quite yet. I've had my temp go up to 108 (I was traveling with them) but only for a few mins. Also- that thermometer is the same one I had, and it skipped 101°f always. So it was a little off.

I ended up adding a small fan and covered all but one hole. It kept the temp stable and there were no more hot spots in the incubator.

I bought a small usb fan for about... 8$? It hung perfectly on the side of my cooler.

I would turn them gently every day, a couple of times, I've also had duck eggs with detached air cells hatch, but needed assistance, and one even pipped at the wrong end of the egg and lived. (This was in my crappy store-bought incubator)
