Found female barred rock in NY. Can anyone rescue her?

Hi,

My girlfriend found an abandoned chicken in a graveyard (of all places!). She's been in our apartment for two days now, and she's seemed to enjoy her rest here. She's eating regularly, and is getting more and more active. I've had chickens in the past, and this one looks to be healthy, friendly, female, and around 1 year old (maybe older?).

Unfortunately, living in a cardboard box inside our apartment is not going to cut it for this little lady. Can anyone help me out by rescuing her? I've posted CraigsList ad's, and contacted a few animal sanctuarys, but all with no luck. I would be happy to deliver her to your place if feasible. I live in the Bushwick neighborhood of Brooklyn, NY.

I wish I was closer. Everything on my place has some sort of rescue story so she'd fit right in - LOL.

Good luck finding her a home. There are lots of BYC folks up in your area. Maybe a couple more picts will entice someone?

where in NY are you? near Buffalo or anything? I am NE Ohio and have been known to drive up to the SCPA in Buffalo for a hen or two. I am SUCH a sucker for a needy chicken. lol
