Yeah, he is getting fiestier. There will be no more kisses on his head I'm afraid, however, when I go into his pen and squat down just to watch him and talk to him, he does come by me and stand there. He doesn't really want me touching him, but he does come right next to me and stand. I did pick him up yesterday but he protested with a funny little grunting like noise so I know those days of holding him are over
For me, that's enough. At least he's not super frightened of me. And he really seems quite content in his current set up. So now I'm on a mission to find a female about the same age as him so that they can grow together. Anyone know what price is good/fair/reasonable for a female yearling india blue?
He is quite the character and grunts at me alot when I come close to him. I'm guessing that he's thinking I was close enough for the first few days for his taste
His toe is healing wonderfully along with his ankle joints as you can see in the picture.
His top hairs (don't know peacock lingo yet
) are growing. He's also eating very good and feels like he's gaining weight. Although he'll eat his gamebird feed mix he prefers scraps which makes me think maybe he'd been scrounging for awhile...who knows
So scraps will be few and far between. I'm giving him a mix of gamebird with some cat food (google search info) and plan on making sure that he gets his greens. If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm more than happy to hear them.
I'm on a search to find him a companion or two but still haven't found anyone with any for sale around his age. I'll keep looking though.
But here he is today looking quite colorful and proud!!

I think that you have done a great job with Pete.
I'm so happy for Pete and for you as well. He looks so handsome and well cared for now. It's amazing the BEFORE and AFTER pics. I sure hope that you can find a Princess for Pete (P & P).
