I just saw this thread. You are an angel to rescue this pea. I feel so sorry that it was out there all that time and no one stopped. I hope that the previous owners didn't just dump him there. Whatever the case, I hope your pea makes it. I am pulling for him. What a great person you are for helping him.
I got up this morning to find feed clumped all over his beak...I guess he finally realized he was hungry
Yesterday he was moving around alot more and his toe does NOT seem to be getting any kind of infection from the "surgery" so I blu-koted it and have him outside now in a larger 8x12 (roughly) covered pen outside so that he can get fresh air, do some scratching and yet still be monitored. He drank a ton of water mixed with vitamins and sugar yesterday so I was hoping that he would eat today. His road rash on his ankles is scabbing over and all in all he's walking just fine now. He's standing straight up with his head held up high. He's so pretty!!
I went and bought the Safeguard so that I can worm him in a few days.
His name is officially Pete. So now I need to find a girlfriend for him so that he doesn't get lonely
I plan on making a permanent larger pen for him soon. Thanks to all for all of your help and warm wishes! and Pete thanks you!
